The only thing I suspect might have happened, is some security update from Microsoft might have been downloaded and got installed. In this case I had already run a Windows Repair (my original solution to this problem) in order to fix other OS issues. I just plugged it in, went to Device Manager and uninstalled the driver for the camera, unplugged the camera, rebooted the system and plugged the camera back in to restore the check over here When I tried that I got the message "Either the device is malfuntioning or the wizard cannot determine the problem."
